Half Term Ideas for your Little Ones
Half term can be pretty boring for little ones due to lockdown but it doesn’t have to be. We have brought to you a blog with a few ideas on what you can do and also made recommendations on where you can get your supplies from.
Many families are struggling to afford resources for their children due to this pandemic. We would like to urge you to donate to Laura Smythe’s cause called “Homeschooling resources for vulnerable families.”
We hope you enjoy this blog, do leave your suggestions in the comments below.
Arts and Crafts
Kids love their arts and crafts, whether its making cards using cardboard or posters. They love it all. Arts and crafts is an excellent way to boost your child’s creativity. And the main thing is, its fun and keeps them occupied. We would highly recommend you visiting Little Learners UK (see the first image below) because they have some fantastic resources for your children but also provide classes and parties for them.
Have a think about whether your child likes pompoms, glitter, painting or colouring. Below are just a couple of ideas we love.
Plan a Treasure Hunt at Home
Treasure hunts are super fun and give children something to look forward to.
A Scavenger hunt for example allows your little one to be creative and find something of their own. For example, when you say find something blue or find something soft – your child could think of anything.
You could even take your treasure hunts outdoors and you could choose to include big or small prizes depending on your children.

Redecorate or Organise your Child's Room
We all know how messy kids can get. Perhaps this half term you can actually spend time to encourage your little one to keep their room neat. Arrange their books and toys in a manner that they can easily find it. This is useful because it also allows you to explain to your child why being tidy from a young age is important. We have put together some storage compartments we love.
School Work (In Moderation)
We understand that this may not be for everyone and no doubt half-term is for children to relax. However, since many of us are working from home and juggling with homeschooling. It is understandable that some children are a little behind so you may wish that your child does some work during half-term so you can get yours done.
We have put a few websites where you can find resources and also a rough half term timetable for those that are working from home and managing kids. We hope these are of help and give you some inspiration.
Twinkl – You can find resources for all ages and stages.
Usborne – You can find amazing activities sheets here and also access Kaleidescope books for different ages.
Ruth Miskin Training – They have videos for children to learn spellings, sounds, reading and poetry.
Oxford Owl – Educational activities and resources for 3-11 year olds.
Mathletics – Maths doesn’t have to be boring, mathletics brings you many games to make it fun. You can also join their 30 day trial .
Educational Books at Poundtoy – You may as well decide neither of the resources mentioned are for you. Check out Poundtoy as they have a wide variety of educational books for different ages you could benefit from.
It is also important to encourage children to remain physically fit, whether its playing football in the garden or going on a walk with you. Also, remember to switch off after work and spend time with your kids and do something fun with them whether its actually playing with them, or watching a movie with them.
That’s it for this post. We hope this post has given you some inspiration. If you have any ideas on what you can do over half-term please do share with us by leaving your comments below.
